Note | Additional comments: ==================== Thomas's elder brother Francis moved out by time Francis was 17 to work in Ulrome. At this time (in the 1851 census) there is no record of his father John. His mother (Hannah) had already re-married George Wilson. He and his younger brother John were living with George and Hannah at the time of the 1851 census. Since John (Tom's brother) was born in 1843, Tom's father John must have died / disappeared / divorced (still to be determined) between 1843 and 1851. George Wilson (his step-father) was a shoemaker(master) in the 1851 census, and Thomas had become an apprentice. This is how the Warkups became shoemakers. Prior to this they had almost all been involved in agriculture. Thomas's wife also came from a family involved in agriculture, with her father being a Miller. In 1911 census, we have Thomas Warkup (aged 73) living in Skipsea Brough, Yorkshire with son Tom (aged 35), Tom's wife Jane (aged 34) and Tom & Jane's son Allan (aged 10) - see below |
