The ages vary between 1881 census and 1901 census, but this is not unusual. People often seem to lose a few years between census entries. He is listed as being born on 3 Jan 1845 in the census, however, his birth certificate gives his date of birth as 31st Jan 1843. We therefore still need to confirm that the James Plewes in the census entries is the same as the one we have the birth certificate of.
