By the time George was born, the parents spellng had changed to Warkup, presumably as that was how the person recording the events spelt the name.

In the 1841 census he was living with his wife (Martha) in Beeford.

In the 1851 UK census, George has disappeared !
Martha is listed as a deserted wife, and has gone back to live with her father Peter, along with her two children.

However, in the 1851 Canadan census for Whitby, Ontario, we have the following entry, which shows the entire family must have gone to Canada during 1851 :
