He died in 1945 leaving behind his wife of 3 years, and a son of 5 months (Geoff).

He was killed in Hasselt in Belgium, and was buried in the Commonwealth War Graves cemetery in Hasselt.

His death certificate lists the cause as "presumed dead accidentally drowned", but the exact circumstances of his death will probably never be known.
