North Yorkshire trees

Warkup Maps

There are a number of Warcup/Warkup families based in various locations in North & East Yorkshire. They fall into two (currently) distinct groups. This page is dedicated to studying how the Warkups spread around the counties. (There are also a number of Warkups in Durham, but the original records are not available as yet so research on this branch will have to wait). The trees for each town/village on this page are transcribed from images of the early parish registers.

Nunkeeling

NunkeelingTree At this point we have a John Warcup, who was of Burton Fleming Parish when he married Catherine Smith in Nunkeeling in 1769. As there is only one family of Warcups having children in that district (in Reighton) it is assumed John is also a son of William & Jane. John and Catherine returned north after the birth of his second son and settled in Appleton-Le-Street.

It is John and Catherine's sons (William b 1770 and Joseph b1786) who marry and move their families to Rillington, and another of their sons (Francis b1786) who moved to Lockton.
