Other Warcups

We are totally convinced that all the Warcups/Warkups living in the North of England are related in some way, it is just a matter of finding the missing links.

This page is dedicated to a study of those Warcups who are not yet connected to the main tree. We have a considerable amount of information so it may take some time to get it onto the website. As we link these families of Warcups to the main tree, they will be incoroprated into the main graphical tree, and removed from the tree below.

TREE 1

The 'top' of each family is shown via the link below. Currently we are entering the details for the descendants of William Warcup born sometime before 1720 in the Lockton / Reighton area.

The Warcups on the unconnected tree below lived very close to the Warcups on the main tree, and it is expected that they will join up eventually. The following link shows the location of the first of these trees William Warcup b1720

UPDATE July 2010 TREE1/TREE2 and TREE 5 are now linked as one tree - William Shepherd b1854 on the Main tree is descended from Cant Candler b1785, and James Candler S Atkinson on the 'Other' tree is also descended from Cant!

TREE 2

The second of the unconnected Warcup trees are the descendents of John Warcup b1797 & Edith Salmon b1793 born in the Swinton/Malton area. This second tree links to the first via the Tree 1 to Tree 2 link See note below on Quebec Warcups.

UPDATE July 2010 TREE1/TREE2 and TREE 5 are now linked as one tree - William Shepherd b1854 on the Main tree is descended from Cant Candler b1785, and James Candler S Atkinson on the 'Other' tree is also descended from Cant!

TREE 3

The third of the unconnected Warcup trees are the descendents of William Warcup b1780 Cowden & Jane Stephenson. William is of Cowden, marries in Preston and moved on to Mappleton. There are other Warcups in Mappleton, also of Cowden, but we have not yet linked them. His descendents also move to Hornsea where there are more Warcups on the Main Tree. Once a link has been established, we will move this tree onto OurWarcups and connect it to the main tree. UPDATE September 2018 TREE3 is now connected to the main tree. Annis Warucup (b1813) marries John Pool (b1808). His first wife Mary Simon (b1805) has a sister Sarah Simon (b1806) who marries Isaac Warcup (b1815) on the main tree.

TREE 4

The fourth of the unconnected Warcup trees are the descendents of (yet another) William Warcup b1771 & Dorothy Wilkinson b1782 born in the Rillington area. We suspect this tree should be connected to Tree 1. Tree 1 has Warcups from the Reighton area, moving to Appleton-le-Street at about the time William at the top of tree 4 was born. We have a son of William (tree1) : Matthew Warcup who we have not yet accounted for. It is possible that one of Matthew's descendents was William b1771 who is at the top of tree 4. UPDATE August 2007 TREE4 and TREE5 are now linked as one tree William b 1771 is the son of John Warcup & Catherine Smith.

TREE 5 - QUEBEC WARCUPS

The fifth unconnected Warcup trees are the descendents of (yet another) William Warcup & Anne unknown born in Appleton le Street area in Yorkshire, England. They emmigrated to Canada, and this tree follows their descendents in Quebec. This tree has only just been started and is expected to grow over the next few weeks. The informtaion for this tree is available via the OtherWarcups tree, but we have included a link here which may be easier to view the general structure. (As there are quite a few Warcup trees now on the OtherWarcups page this pdf picks out the Quebec Warcups ). We hope to confirm the early part generations in Yorkshire in the very near future. ** We now believe the Quebec Warcups, descended from William Warcup, born circa 1792, and that William was the brother of John b 1797 who married Edith Salmon. ie UPDATE July 2007 TREE2 and TREE5 are now linked as one tree.

Southern Warcups

This small section has been added to show the Warcup branch which appears to be centred in Kent. It is unlikely that we will be able to link it to all the Northern Warcups as the baptism / IGI records are fairly scarce for that area. However, at least 3-4 Warcups did move from Yorkshire to this area, so it is possible that the Kent Warcups are connected, but at a time before records are available. As we are working through all the births/marriages/deaths from 1837-2004, this tree is useful for elimination purposes.
